2010 Session Updates
Priority bill: the Sustainable Communities Act (SB 285/HB 475) continues the highly successful Historic Tax Credit program and extends the program to key non-historic properties for revitalization. This bill also improves coordination between a number of important revitalization programs including Community Legacy, Maryland Main Streets and Maple Street. This important Smart Growth program was funded at $10 million.
Other legislation:
- HB1350: Would have created a registry of abandoned properties and a fee system for maintaining them. Died in committee.
- SB889, HB1096: Would have established a split rate tax for abandoned properties in Baltimore. Died in committee.
- SB235, HB103: Requires notice and better planning for residents dislocated by the closure of a mobile home park. Passed!
