Allegany citizens organize for smart growth
A few years ago in Allegany County there wasn't enough development activity or citizen interest in planning to warrant regular Planning Commission meetings. Jackie Sams, President of the Allegany County League of Women Voters, pointed out to the county's community development director that Talbot County had 80 citizens actively involved in developing their comprehensive plan. "That'll never happen here," he replied.
