Transportation Reform and Funding
While Congress stalls on reauthorization of the federal transportation act, momentum is building for a stop-gap bill. Senate Bill 3412, the Public Transportation Preservation Act, would authorize more than $2 billion in funding to help prevent draconian public transportation cuts and fare increases across the country.
In the last few weeks, the bill has picked up new cosponsors from Rhode Island, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Oregon, and Alaska. In other good news, a companion bill was recently introduced in the House, getting us one step closer to this desperately needed funding.
