Princess Anne's updated growth plan to be unveiled
PRINCESS ANNE -- The chairman of the town's Planning and Zoning Commission is expected to unveil an updated comprehensive plan during Tuesday night's town meeting.
The plan, which has been two years in the making, is designed as a guide to growth in Princess Anne over the next six years.
The plan was adopted last month by the Planning and Zoning Commission and is expected to be approved by Town Commissioners.
Citizens can comment on the plan during the meeting.
Noteworthy among changes is a reduction of the town's growth area because the plan called for "more than what is needed," Radhika Paruchuri, a planner at Davis, Bowen and Friedel of Salisbury and Easton, told town planners at a meeting in September.
Comprehensive plans are required by the state to establish and update detailed mapping for long-range, smart growth.
A draft plan for Princess Anne hit a bump in September 2008 when state agencies, including the Maryland Department of Planning, called for a rewrite to eliminate text and formatting errors.
DBF took up the project earlier this year after MDP criticism of the draft by the original architect, consultant Jakubiak & Associates of Annapolis.
The proposed comprehensive plan can be viewed online at www.DBFINC.com/ planning/PrincessAnne.
Also on Tuesday night's agenda are town manager and department head reports.
Although town meetings are normally held on the second Monday of the month, this month's meeting was moved to Tuesday because of the Columbus Day holiday.
