Carroll County
Carroll County was erected in 1837 and was named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a Revolutionary War statesman and signer of the Declaration of Independence. It is located 31 miles northwest of Baltimore and 56 miles north of Washington DC.
Carroll County has experienced rapid growth -- in 2000 the population was 150,897 and is projected to reach 188,200 by 2015. Despite this growth, Carroll County remains largely a rural area and has preserved over 50,000 acres of land through various agricultural land easements.
